October 17 - October 19

Marathon runners on a lakeside road with Lake Tahoe’s blue water and mountains in the background.

The 30th annual Lake Tahoe Marathon brings three days of exciting races and events around the lake. Runners of all levels can take part in marathons, half marathons, relays, 10Ks, and fun runs. One of the highlights is the “Very Scary 5K,” a downhill dash with a Halloween twist where costumed runners hit the course first. It’s a weekend full of challenge, energy, and the breathtaking views of Tahoe in the fall.

Things to Know Before Coming

The weekend schedule is packed. Friday features the Lakeside Marathon and a Nevada Half Marathon. Saturday includes the Cal-Neva Marathon, Incline Half Marathon, and the 72-mile Midnight Express ultra run. Sunday closes with the main Lake Tahoe Marathon, a four-person relay, the Emerald Bay Half, a 10K, and fun runs like the Super Hero 5K. Aid stations, medical support, finisher medals, race shirts, and food vendors at the finish line all add to the experience. Since races start at different locations, make sure to check your start time and plan travel accordingly.
