This tour lets you explore the historic Thunderbird Lodge and the Whittell Estate grounds in Incline Village. You’ll walk through the mansion, see secret tunnels, card house, and maybe even the legendary Thunderbird yacht if it’s available. The tour also includes stories about Captain Whittell’s efforts to protect Lake Tahoe’s Nevada shoreline and his conservation legacy.
Things to Know Before Coming
Reservations are required. Private cars are not allowed to drive into the lodge grounds, so you’ll need to take a shuttle. Shuttles leave from the Travel North Tahoe Nevada Welcome Visitor Center at 969 Tahoe Blvd., Incline Village. Make sure to arrive about 10 minutes before shuttle departure.
Ticket Information
There are fixed-time guided tours that last about 75 minutes. The tours occur on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 12:30 p.m. There is also an upgraded wine & cheese tour option at 2:00 p.m. on those same days. You’ll need to get your tickets online.
